Lago di Livigno

The Lago di Livigno (also Lago del Gallo, dt: Luwinersee ) is a reservoir, the largest part - lies in Italy - as in the Lago di Lei. Only in the 130-meter high dam Punt dal Gall, which is located in the far north of the lake, the lake is for about two kilometers on Swiss territory. The lake meets there at the beginning of Spölschlucht to the community Zernez.

Lake Livigno is just across the Alpine passes Forcola di Livigno ( 2315 m) in the south or the Passo d' Eira ( 2208 m ) to the Passo di Foscagno ( 2291 m) in the east and by the Munt la Shera tunnel in the north traffic- developed.

At the southern tip of the lake is the only major town of Livigno. This place is popular for tourists because they benefit there as well as in Samnaun from the duty-free fueling and shopping. It is also a well-known winter sports resort.

The Punt dal Gall dam is located right on the Swiss-Italian border. The lake is part of Swiss territory from fed (Val Mora ) and, together with the Weißenfelser lakes, Raibler lake and several small lakes in the municipality of Sesto of the few lakes in Italy, which drain into the Black Sea via the Danube.
