Leménil-Mitry

Leménil - Mitry is a commune in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district Nancy, for Canton Haroué and founded in 1998 since 2004 Association of Municipalities Saintois. With 3 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) Leménil - Mitry is the smallest of the 594 municipalities in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle and the entire region Lorraine.

Geography

The community Leménil - Mitry located in the eastern Saintois, about 25 kilometers southwest of Luneville and 30 kilometers south of Nancy on a plateau between Madon and Moselle, Moselle valley to the slopes steeply to the east.

The settlement itself is (built in 1721, rebuilt in 1812 and 1840 ) from a now uninhabited, fenced lock with two outbuildings, a house and two outbuildings.

Up to about 30 ha of arable and meadow land, the municipal area consists of forest.

Neighboring communities of Leménil - Mitry are Laneuveville -devant- Bayon in the northeast, Mangonville in the east, Bainville -aux- Miroirs the southeast, Lebeuville in the south, Vaudeville in the West as well as Crantenoy in the northwest.

History

The place dates back to the knights Mitry, which split into two branches Fauconcourt and Menil.

A plaque at the northern entrance reminiscent of the 894 Maquisards Groupe Lorraine 42 who gathered in August 1944 in the forests around Leménil - Mitry, supported by three parachutists, weapons, ammunition and equipment brought to the collection point.

Leménil - Mitry can be reached from the south Gripport, from the north Laneuveville -devant- Bayon. To the west of the municipality is the highway-like -developed national road 57 ( E 23 ) is from Nancy to Epinal (connection Bayon / Haroué 1500 m north of Leménil - Mitry ).
