Les Étangs

Les Étangs ( German Tennschen, 1940-44 Teckenhof ) is a commune with 407 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of Metz- Campagne and Canton Vigy.

Geography

The village lies to the east of Metz on the French Nied at an altitude 207-304 m above sea level. The municipality covers 6.05 km ².

History

The foundations of the castle date back to the year 1401. It was then repeated target of looting and 1490 and 1552 was burned down. From 1679 to 1858 it was owned by the Blair de Balthayock family. This was in 1674 immigrated from Scotland.
