Losino-Petrovsky

Lossino - Petrovsky (Russian Лосино - Петровский ) is a town with 22,550 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ) in the Moscow Oblast in Russia. It is located 52 kilometers northeast of Moscow and at the mouth of the river Worja in the Klyazma. The closest cities are directly adjacent Monino, further Staraya Kupawna and the raion center Schtscholkowo.

History

The village was founded in 1708 with the adoption took place on Peter the Great founded a state factory for the production of army uniform from moose leather. This gave the place its present name: Lossiny is derived from Los ( " Moose " ) and Petrovsky of "Peter".

Middle of the 19th century around the factory several textile factories. After the nationalization due to the change of power after the October Revolution of 1917, a workers' settlement was established in the area of the present town. This was awarded city status in 1951.

Economy and infrastructure

In the city exist today several textile factories. The nearest highway is the M7, which runs past the town of Monino. There is also train connection to Moscow with regular regional connections to the Yaroslavsky railway station on Schtscholkowo, Korolev and Mytischtschi.
