Maxim Integrated ( NASDAQ: MXIM ) is an American manufacturer of integrated circuits (IC). The company's headquarters is located in San Jose, California. Currently over 6,400 different ICs are produced.

Company History

Maxim Integrated was April 14, 1983 as Maxim Integrated Products Inc. of Jack Gifford (* January 11, 1941 Los Angeles, January 11, 2009 Hawaii † ) founded along with eight other semiconductor developers in Sunnyvale, California. Based on a two-page business plan was a starting capital of 9 million U.S. dollars will be applied. In the first fiscal year 24 analog ICs have been developed but produces other semiconductor manufacturers, from 1984 own production facilities were put into operation in order to be independent from other manufacturers. Known ICs from this period are equipped with the integrated charge pump serial interface driver MAX232 according to the standard EIA- 232 (RS -232), which brought Maxim mid-1980 as the first on the market. 1987 Maxim Integrated reached the breakeven point. Through the first acquisition in 1989 Maxim Integrated earned his first major semiconductor factory. In 1993 first an annual turnover of 100 million USD has been reached. In 2010, first an annual turnover of USD 2.2 billion was achieved and produced the first analog products on 300 mm wafers and supplied in the market. 2013 celebrated Maxim Integrated its 30th anniversary.
