Mělčany

Mělčany ( German Mieltschan ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located nine kilometers southeast of Ivančice and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Mělčany located in the valley at the junction of the Satava Bobravská Highlands to Thaya Schwarza valley floor. To the north rises the Jalovčiny (334 m).

Neighboring towns are Silůvky, Prštice and Tikovice in the north, Ořechov and Hajany in the northeast, Syrovice in the east, Sobotovice and Bratčice the southeast, Němčičky and Pravlov in the south, Dolni Kounice the southwest, Moravské Bránice in the west and Karlov and Hlína in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the monastery Rosa Coeli associated village took place in 1181st After the dissolution of the monastery Mělčany was the rule Kanitz submissive.

After the abolition of patrimonial Mělčany formed in 1850 a municipality in the district team Auspitz. Between 1948 and 1960 Mělčany belonged to Okres Rosice. After its cancellation Mělčany was assigned to the Okres Brno- venkov.
