Moravské Bránice

Moravské Bránice, formerly České Bránice ( German Moravian Branitz, formerly Bohemian Branitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located five kilometers south-east of Ivančice and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Moravské Bránice extends into the highlands Hlinska left side of the Jihlava along the streams and Bukovinka Lozarka. To the northeast, the Babí hora rises (351 m ) in the east, the Karlova hora (286 m), in the southeastern Šibeniční vrch ( 296 m ) west of the Réna (319 m) ​​, Komořina (318 m) and Kalce and in the northwest Bukovina (385 m). Northwest to the village runs the railway line Hrušovany nad Jevišovkou - Brno, there is also the station. History

The first mention of the village was carried out in a deed dated 1173, after William of Polan the Prämonstratenserinnenkloster Rosa Coeli, the three villages Kounice, Mělčany and Bránice left. At the lower part of the hill and on the Kalce Karlova hora vineyards were reinvested. The old viaduct Ivančice was replaced in 1978 by a new parallel and largely canceled. In 2001, the village consisted of 330 houses and had 918 inhabitants.
