Moravské Knínice

Moravské Knínice ( German Moravian Kinitz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is situated 18 kilometers northwest of the city center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Moravské Knínice located in the highlands Bobravská in the valley of the river Kuřimka. To the north of the Čebínský Cimperk raise Kopec ( 369 m) and Převych (364 m), northeast (397 m), to the east the Kuřimská hora (435 m ) southeast of the Sychrov ( 463 m), in the south of the Batelov ( 426 m), southwest of the Kuňky (421 m ) in the west and northwest Strážná the Dalka (345 m). Southeast is the terrain of the golf course U Marušky, southwest of the castle Veveří and to the south the Brno dam.

Neighboring towns are Malhostovice in the north, Lipůvka in the northeast, Kuřim in the east, Česká, Ivanovice and Jinačovice to the southeast, and Rozdrojovice Obora in the south, Veverská Bítýška and Chudčice in the southwest and Sentice and Čebín in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Chieniz took place in 1235 in a document by Pope Gregory IX. for the monastery of Porta Coeli. 1238, the village was called Khneniz. Boček of Medlov left 1350 the villages Knyechnicz and Kocanov to the brothers Boček, Vilém and Hroznata of Kunštát. Since the time of 1350-1370, the village always belonged to the castle Eichhorn. In 1437 for the first time the attribute Moravian was used to distinguish the location of the village of German Kinitz. 1528 is hands down the place name Morawsky Knijniz. 1562 acquired the monastery Nonneustift the rule Eichhorn. The oldest town seal is from 1667. 1836 were living in the 84 houses of the village of 460 people.

After the abolition of patrimonial Moravské Kinice / Moravian Kinitz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno. Between 1892 and 1894 the road was built by Kuřim. In the years 1902-1904 the construction of the road was carried out according Čebín and 1911-1922, the road was built after Chudčice. 1905, the village was assigned to the district Tischnowitz. 1910 began the construction of the railway Kuřim - Veverská Bítýška. The following year she was inaugurated. Also in 1911 took a Czech school to teach. In 1930 the village had 852 inhabitants. The railroad already presented in 1936 the traffic again, the rail cars were sold to the company Bata in Zlín. During the construction of the autobahn Breslau - Vienna railway line was resumed for material transport. 1943, the highway construction east of the village has been set. On August 25, 1944 Moravian Kinitz was bombed in Gurein when attacking Allied aircraft on the aircraft engine factory of Klöckner-Werke. Between 8 and 9 May 1945, the Wehrmacht took off Gurein back, blew up several bridges and put the Klöckner -Werke Gurein on fire. 1948 Okres Tišnov was lifted. Between 1949 and 1960 Moravské Knínice belonged to Okres Brno- okolí and after its resolution back to Okres Brno- venkov. Within the local situation Moravské Knínice after the Second World War the railway tracks were dismantled. In 1970 the village was incorporated into Kuřim. Since 1990, the municipality Moravské Knínice there again.

Attractions

  • Church of St.. Margaret, built in 1366. 1681 was an early Baroque remodeling. The tower was added in 1886.
  • Baroque chapel of St.. Cyril and Methodius, built in 1862 by Josef Čech on a knoll above the village
  • Chapel of St. John of Nepomuk, built in 1856 by Michal Helan on the road to Kuřim
  • Mounds of unfinished Reichsautobahn Vienna Wroclaw, west of the village, the northernmost dam is protected as a nature reserve Obůrky - Třeštěnec since 1980.
