Nago–Torbole

Nago- Torbole ( German: Naag - Turbel ) or shortly after the main town of Torbole is a municipality with 2810 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Trento in Italy.

Geography

The municipality Nago -Torbole consists of three places:

  • Torbole is situated on the northern part of Lake Garda, right on the coast road Gardesana Orientale. The town itself is located 68 m above sea level. Here ends the Sarca in the lake, leaving these again as Mincio at Peschiera del Garda.
  • Nago is located above Torbole to over 200 meters. Here is a former village at the foot of the Penede.
  • Tempesta consists of only a few houses on the eastern shore of Lake Garda south of Torbole. South of Tempesta forms the municipal boundary at the same time the border with the province of Verona (Veneto ).

The highest point of the municipality is the summit of Monte Altissimo ( 2079 m slm ).

Borders the following municipalities: Arco, Riva del Garda, Mori, Molina di Ledro, Brentonico and Malcesine ( VR).

Tourism

As the surrounding area is Torbole a popular tourism destination. Especially with wind surfers the place is very popular due to the constant winds. In addition, the surrounding Lake Garda mountains offer countless opportunities for mountain biking, hiking and climbing routes.

  • Customs house - on a pier in the harbor there is a small customs house from the time of the Habsburg Monarchy, as to the first World War, the border between Italy and Austria was here. The origins of the cottage are believed to date back even further, as a relief on the outer wall of the Venetian time recalls. In the summer months the tax house is partly used as a bar. It is now privately owned by the Tonelli family.
