Namibia national football team

The Namibian national football team is the national soccer team of the southwest African country of Namibia.

The Namibian national football team was founded in 1992 with the accession of Namibia Football Association and FIFA has set out to date to more than 140 international matches. The greatest success of the national team was reaching the African Cup of Nations in 1998 and 2008. Been the country's failure to qualify for a World Cup itself.

The team is known as the "Brave Warriors" ( German Brave Warrior) and is sponsored by Namibia Breweries under the name " Tafel Lager ".

COSAFA Cup

The COSAFA Cup was not held between 1997 and 2008 in the Tournament mode in a host country but in individual games in all participating countries. It was not until 2008, was agreed to integrate the tournament align in a country.

  • Razundara Tjikuzu played in Germany for Werder Bremen, Hansa Rostock and MSV Duisburg. He drew attention especially with lack of discipline on themselves. He currently plays in Turkey Kasımpaşa Istanbul.
  • Collin Benjamin played 2001 - 2011 for Hamburger SV and since 2011 for TSV 1860 München.
  • John Jantze played for MSV Duisburg, Rot Weiss Oberhausen and last for Civics.

Namibian Europe Legionaries often play in Germany: In addition Tjikuzu and Benjamin here are Wilko Risser, Geoffrey novel Biwa and Richard mentioned. In addition, some players in South Africa are active, Oliver Risser is currently playing in England. The former coach Heinz -Peter Jahn About is German.

Coach

Of 7 July 2008 to 1 October 2010, the team was led by the Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet before this resigned and moved to Zimbabwe's national soccer team. From then on, the Namibians Brian Isaacs was coach of the team, which was announced in early April 2011 the team to rejuvenate strong. In October 2011, he was replaced by Bernard Kaanjuka as interim coach. In May 2013 Roger Palmgren took over the post of national coach, but resigned because of " serious threats " against him and his family already back in June 2013.
