Norway at the 1956 Summer Olympics

Norway participated in the Olympic Summer Games 1956 in Melbourne, Australia as well as the equestrian games in Stockholm, Sweden, in part of a delegation of 22 athletes (19 men and three women) in 18 competitions in six sports. There were three medals ( one gold and two bronze ) to be won. The youngest athlete was the Sprinter Nilsen (19 years and 162 days), the oldest athlete was the marksman Hans Aasnæs (53 years and 350 days). It was the thirteenth participation of the country in the Olympic Summer Games. Standard-bearer was the sailors Thor Thorvaldsen ( Birck Elgaaen at the riders ).
