Bulgaria at the 1956 Summer Olympics
Bulgaria participated in the Olympic Summer Games 1956 in Melbourne, Australia as well as equestrian Games in Stockholm, Sweden, in part of a delegation of 48 athletes (45 men and three women) in 31 competitions in seven sports. It could be won five medals ( one each gold and bronze and three silver ). The youngest athlete was the basketball player Viktor Radev (20 years and four days), the oldest athlete was the rider Eloy de Menezes (58 years and 41 days). It was the sixth part of the country at the Olympic Summer Games. Standard-bearer for the Games in Melbourne was the basketball player Georgi Panov.
