Ochoz u Brna

Ochoz u Brna, until 1950 Ochoz ( German: Ochos ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. You more than twelve kilometers northeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Ochoz u Brna is located in Drahany country. Surrounded by woods village is on the southern edge of the nature reserve Moravian Karst and will brook crossed by Bach Ochozský. To the south extends the natural park Údolí Ricky. In the North the Vysoká ( 492 m), northeast Skalka ( 478 m), in the south the Lysa hora (428 m) and north-west, the Baba ( 496 m).

Neighboring towns are Habrůvka, Křtiny, Brezina and Proseč in the north, Nový Dvůr and Lhotky in the northeast, Hádek and Pod Hádkem in the east, Hostěnice the southeast, Mokrá, Horákov, Horni Mlýn and Prostřední Mlýn in the south, Vinohrady and Maloměřice the southwest, Bílovice nad Svitavou Řícmanice and Obce in the west and Kanice and Babice nad Svitavou in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the Premonstratensian Obrowitz associated village was on 27 September 1237 by Pope Gregory IX. drawn treatise on the inviolability of church property by worldly men, after I and Přemysl of Moravia a number of villages had been destroyed during the civil war between Wenceslas. Between 1948 and 1960, the Ochoz was u Brna part of Okres Brno- okolí and since 1961 it belongs back to Brno- venkov. 1988 Obce lost the status of a local part.

Northeast of the community, a large limestone quarry is operated.

  • Church of Sts. Wenzel, built in 1659 as a stopover on the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary Křtiny at the site of a Gothic chapel. Between 1740 and 1750 the church was greatly enlarged.
  • Ponor Estavela where the river disappears Říčka and continues to flow underground, southeast of Ochoz
  • Karst cave Pekárna, south of Ochoz at the mouth of the creek in the Hostěnický Říčka
  • Karst caves Ochoz and jeskyně Švédův stůl (Sweden table cave) in the Valley of Říčka, southeast of the village. The Swedes table grotto is a locality of a Neanderthal.
