Philip Boyce

Philip Boyce OCD (born 25 January 1940 in Downings, County Donegal) is a Roman Catholic bishop in Ireland.

Life

Boyce went to school in Meevagh at the Derrhassen School and College Castlemartyr in County Cork. After leaving school, he studied philosophy in Dublin and Catholic Theology at the Pontifical Teresianum in Rome, where he was ordained priest on 17 April 1966. Boyce was a member of the Order of the Discalced Carmelites. In 1977, he became a doctor of theology with a thesis on the spirituality of Cardinal John Henry Newman. After finishing his studies, he taught at the Teresianum dogmatics.

On 29 June 1995 by Pope John Paul II appointed Bishop of Raphoe and also in May 1999 as a member of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.
