Plappeville

Plappeville is a commune with 2112 inhabitants ( 1 January 2011) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region.

History

The town was founded in 621 by Pappolus, Bishop of Metz, and served as his country seat ( Pappoli villa). 1552 came Plappeville with the Treaty of Chambord France.

Began in 1867 as part of the application of a first extension belt around the fortress of Metz ( Barrière de fer ), the draft of which mainly goes back to General Séré de Rivières, the construction of the fort Alvensleben [ Plappeville ]. 1871 to 1918, the village belonged to the German Empire. 1915-18 was the place the Germanized name Papolsheim.

1940 Plappeville was again occupied by the Germans, who sold 95 % of the population in November 1940 and renamed it briefly in Pleppweiler. 1941 until the liberation in 1944 was incorporated in Metz (Metz - Papolsheim ).
