Ramsau im Zillertal

Ramsau is a municipality with 1570 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in the Zillertal valley and belongs to the district of Schwaz in Tirol ( Austria ). The municipality is located in the judicial district of Zell am Ziller.

Geography

Ramsau is situated in the Zillertal, east of the Ziller. The territory extends from the Ziller up to 2350m high field. Districts are the chief town of Ramsau in the valley, south of it on a terrace level ( upper and lower ) Unterbichl and Ramsberg as scattered settlement on the hillside.

History

Ramsau is the first time 1188 1350 first documented as " Ramsowe " and Ramsberg. The name Ramsau derives from a frequently occurring in the Alps place names and means " raven -Au ". The settlement expansion was towards the end of the 13th century only slowly.

In the 16th century had spread widely on the Ramsberg and in Ramsau by the miners of the nearby Zeller gold mining the Protestant doctrine. 1837 but were 102 Ramsauer Protestants - a part of the Zillertal Inklinanten - forced to emigrate to the Prussian Silesia, a much smaller group moved forced to Styria.

In the 19th century Ramsberg was a municipality. After the Second World War, the focus of community life shifted to Ramsau, the magnified greatly. Therefore, the community name of Ramsberg 1978 amended in Ramsau.

Economy

Economically important is in addition to tourism the automotive supply operation AL -KO, which brings the community a balanced commuter rate.

Traffic

Ramsau is accessible via the road and the Zillertal Zillertal Railway with stops Ramsau Ramsau -Hippach and i Z. Bühel. The Zillertal- B169 passes through the village of Ramsau am Bühel district, the Ramsberg is developed in part with narrow but continuous paved mountain roads. One of these roads leads to the southern terminus of the summit section of the Zillertal High Road.
