Rivas-Vaciamadrid

Since 1999, the city is connected by metro line 9 to Madrid. Additionally, there is a connection with the Madrid commuter train ( Cercanías ) the lines C1 and C2, as well as bus lines ( interurbanos ) 331 to 334

History

The towns of Rivas de Jarama and Vaciamadrid 1845 were merged to form a community. During the Battle of Jarama in February 1937, the two communities have been badly damaged.

The mayor of the municipality, Jose Masa, has established a counseling center for citizens who want to leave the Church. He employs lawyers who provide legal assistance to them on leaving the church. Requests now come from all over Spain, where people increasingly political reasons dissociate from the faith: the Church is often criticized for being too close ties to the Franco regime.
