Rohozec (Brno-Country District)

Rohozec ( German Rohosetz, formerly Rohosdetz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located seven kilometers north-east of Tišnov and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Rohozec located in the Bosko brázda on a hill between the valleys of the Lomnička and Lubě. To the west lies the nature park Svratecká hornatina. In the east, the Svidovec (440 m) and the Kopanina raises the Střela (490 m), southwest (462 m ) in the west of Močický Kopec (515 m ) and in the northwest the Velka hora ( 558 m).

Neighboring towns are Zhoř and Bukovice in the north, Brťov - Jeneč and Žernovník in the northeast, Lubě and Malá Lhota in the east, Hluboké Dvory the southeast, Unín, Hajánky and Hájek in the south, Jamné the southwest, Šerkovice and Brusna in the west and Lomnice, Chrastová and Rašov in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of the village was carried out in 1240 in a document of the monastery Porta Coeli. Rohozec belonged since that time always to the monastic possession. Vicarage was Unín, where it was also taught since the 18th century. 1782 the monastery was in the course of Josephine reforms abolished by Emperor Joseph II and provided the goods under the administration of the Bohemian crown. This sold the reign Porta Coeli 1799 William Mundy. 1821 sold by John Mundy the rule of Frederick Schell of Wittinghoff.

After the abolition of patrimonial Rohozdec / Rohosdetz formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno team. Since 1896, Rohozdec belonged to the newly formed district Tischnowitz. Since 1924, the community is called Rohozec. On the Střela the Army established in 1960 a barracks to house a missile Department. After the dissolution of Okres Tišnov Rohozec came with the beginning of 1961 to Okres Blansko. 1976 were incorporated involuntarily Hluboké Dvory Zhoř, Unín and Bukovice. These villages broke away in 1990 and formed their own communities go again. At the end of 1990, the missile division was abolished. After 2005, was built on the Střela in the former military facility, an 8 -hectare game reserve umfriedetes. Since the beginning of 2007, the community is part of the Okres Brno- venkov.

  • Chapel of St. Cyril and Methodius, the building with three-stage tower was built in 1861
  • Memorial to the victims of the First World War with life-size sandstone sculpture of a reclining lion
  • Natural Monument Svidovec, southwest of the village
  • Ruins of Castle Trmačov, southeast of Rohozec, it has been handed down as the seat of Vladiken Ondřej Trmačov since 1305. Since 1481 the castle is considered to be desolate. Are preserved remains of walls of the keep.
