Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Maringá

The Archdiocese of Maringá (Latin: Archidioecesis Maringaënsis ) is a located in Brazil Roman Catholic archdiocese headquartered in Maringá in Paraná State.

History

Pope Pius XII. founded the archbishopric with the Apostolic Constitution Ecclesia Latissimas partire on 1 February 1956 cession of territory of the diocese of Jacarezinho and it became the Archdiocese of Curitiba assumed as suffragan. On January 20, 1968, lost part of its territory to the diocese Paranavaí.

It was on 31 October 1970 it belonged to the ecclesiastical province of the Archdiocese of Londrina. With the Apostolic Constitution Quamquam est munus it was raised on 16 October 1979 Metropolitanerzbistum.
