The N12 is a French national road, which was established in 1824 between Trappes and Brest. It goes back to the route impériale 13. Her length was 574 km. In 1856 it was extended over a bridge over the Penfeld to Brest - Recouvrance. In 1949 a change of shape between Mayenne and Rennes. To this end, they took over parts of the N155 and N177. From 1978 to 1986, the N412 was a side branch of the N12, which was lying on the ancient route of the N12 by Saint- Brieuc.

The N1012 is a side branch of the N12, which was created in 2011 from its old route, as this was moved to a bypass which bypasses the node at junction 11 of the ring road around Rennes.

N2012

With the N2012 it was old routes of the N12 through villages, who received a bypass. 2006, these old routes were downgraded.
