San Sebastián de los Reyes

San Sebastián de los Reyes ( commonly referred to as Sanse; Abbreviation: SSRR ) is located away a suburb of Madrid, about 18 kilometers north. It counts 82 090 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013) and lies at an altitude of 705 meters; the area is 59.26 km ². The development has grown together with that of the neighboring town of Alcobendas. The two cities are separated by the Spain - avenue ( Avenida de España). The building of a road belong to Alcobendas, any other of the Sanse.

With Madrid San Sebastian de los Reyes is connected since 2001 by the Cercanías suburban line ( line C- 1 Madrid - Atocha and Alcalá de Henares ) and the A1 motorway. The M -50 and the paid R2 connects San Sebastian de los Reyes with large parts of the region. The city has a very well developed bus network, through which it is connected with Madrid and many neighboring towns. Since April 2007, San Sebastián de los Reyes is connected by line 10 to the power of the Madrid Metro.

History

San Sebastian de los Reyes was founded in 1488. Some families fled the city Alcobendas before the pressure of the Barons D. Juan Arias de Ávila. The title " de los Reyes " bears the city because it was awarded by the Catholic Monarchs, the city law. This awarded the rights to make the power of the baron was not too great with the only requirement to build a memorial to San Sebastián.

Until well into the 20th century, agriculture was the only economic factor for the city. After San Sebastian de los Reyes, has grown enormously in the seventies, like almost all peripheral cities of Madrid, there are now well over 2500 companies and corporate offices, including many international companies.

Regular events

The fiestas are among the most spectacular in Spain. As in Pamplona bull runs are held every morning with the bulls fighting in the afternoon in the arena. Due to the quality and extent of these runs and fights is also sometimes called Pamplona chica (small Pamplona ) San Sebastián de los Reyes.
