Severin Blindenbacher

Severin Blind Bacher ( born March 15, 1983 in Zurich ) is a Swiss ice hockey player. He is currently with the ZSC Lions of the Swiss National League A under contract.

Career

Blind Bacher played before switching to his native town in 2005 for the Kloten Flyers. There he had already played in the junior age and, in the 2000 /01 season his professional debut in the National League A. During his time in Kloten, he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 2001 in the ninth round at 273rd position of the Phoenix Coyotes. With the ZSC Lions in 2008, he won the Swiss Championship and 2009, the Champions Hockey League. From the summer of 2009 he played for the reigning Swedish champions Färjestad BK in the Elitserien.

For the season 2010/11 Blind Bacher went to North America and has been contracted by the Dallas Stars. After the training camp, he was the Texas Stars, sent by the Stars to their farm team in the American Hockey League. In February 2011, he finished his commitment in North America, after the Dallas Stars had put him on the Waiverliste, but the defender by any of the teams had been selected. About a month later, he signed a contract with the ZSC Lions with effect from the season 2011/12.

Internationally

Blind Bacher took back in 2001 for the first time for the junior national team of Switzerland at a major international tournament, the U18 World Cup. He won the silver medal with the U18 selection. In the same year he also took part in the U20 World Cup. Further deployments in U20 World Championships followed in 2002 and 2003 before he became a member of the Swiss national ice hockey team was from 2003. With this, he played the World Championships in 2003, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2012 and the Olympic Hockey Tournament in 2006 and 2010.

At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki, he was again part of the national team and won the silver medal with this.
