Strass in Steiermark until the end of 2014, market town with 1752 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in southern Styria ( Austria ) in the political district of Leibnitz and lies on the border with Slovenia. As part of the municipality of structural reform in Styria it is merged in 2015 with the municipalities field, Obervogau and Vogau, the new community will be known as road - pitch. This is based on the Styrian community structure reform law - StGsrG.

Geography

The center of Strasbourg is located near the river Mura and can be reached via the Mur. The municipality is the Attemsmoor, a product derived from a flooded bog flow Moor.

  • The parish church of Strasbourg ( built as a palace church in the 17th century by Prince Hans Ulrich von Eggenberg, foundation stone was laid on September 9, 1626 by the Prince-Bishop of Seckau, James I Eberlein; consecration on October 28, 1629).

Sports

The leisure center with indoor sports court and offers the possibility to practice sports such as beach volleyball and skating as well as several tracks for asphalt curling ( two lanes in the hall ). In winter you can place on the asphalt skating and curling. The tennis club Strasbourg rented in the play-free times two tennis courts at the school. The training ground of sports club road is in the non-training times for ball games.

Regular events

Every year on 5 December in Strasbourg rather than the Krampus, in which two Strasser jointly organized by Krampus groups ( " Südsteirische devil " and "Black Strasser devil " ) is a hell driving along the Strasser Krampus mile. Also carnival meetings are held each year.

Taking place in the summer garrison festival is known around the Styria.

Public institutions

In Castle road is the Archduke Johann barracks of the Austrian army. In this the Battalion 17 (part of JgBrig 7), the only hardened hunters association (ie, equipped with Pandur armored personnel ) stationed.

The award of the municipality coat of arms took place on September 4, 1625 by Johann Ulrich von Eggenberg.
