Sukhoy Log, Sverdlovsk Oblast
Sukhoi Log ( Russian Сухой Лог ) is a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia) with 34,554 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the west of the West Siberian Plain, about 110 km east of the Oblasthauptstadt Yekaterinburg at the Pyshma, a right tributary of the Ob river system in Tura.
Sukhoi Log forms an urban district of the same name.
The town lies on the railway line opened in 1918 Bogdanovich - Alapayevsk ( - Serov ). Name of the station is Kunara, after the east of the city leading into the Pyshma Creek.
History
The village Sukhoi Log ( Russian for dry valley ) was created in the early 18th century.
1847 were discovered near coal deposits, which were mined but only until the 1860s. 1879 was a paper mill, in 1913 a large cement plant was built, which, however, only in 1930 started production.
In February 1943, the city received city rights.

Culture and sights
Nine kilometers east of the city lies the balneologically - climatic health resort Kurji (Russian Курьи ).
Economy
In addition to the cement plant as the most important operation of the city there is a work for refractory materials, non-ferrous metal works, a paper mill and timber industry.
