Revda, Sverdlovsk Oblast
Rewda (Russian Ревда ) is a town in Sverdlovsk Oblast (Russia) with 61 875 inhabitants (as of October 14, 2010 ).
Geography
The city is located in the Middle Urals, about 40 km west of the Oblasthauptstadt Yekaterinburg at the mouth of Rewda in the Chusovaya, a left tributary of the Kama. Just a few kilometers north of Rewda is the neighboring town of Pervouralsk, little east the boundary between Europe and Asia.
Rewda is the Oblast administratively subordinated directly and as the administrative center of the homonymous Rajons. The city Rewda is the town located about 25 kilometers south Degtjarsk assumed.
History
Rewda emerged from 1731 with the establishment of an ironworks. However, the official year is 1734, when the plant started production. On May 3, 1935, the city charter was granted.

Culture and sights
In the city center, parts of wooden buildings from the 19th and early 20th century are preserved, including the residence of the family of entrepreneurs Demidov. In Rewda there are several museums on the history of metallurgical plants and the mining industry in the city.
Economy
In Rewda is the largest copper smelter of the Urals, which has been in operation since 1940 and mainly processed ore from a deposit at Degtjarsk. In addition, there are works in the metalworking and chemical industries as well as the construction and timber industries.
