Újezd u Brna
Újezd u Brna, until 1951 Újezd Sokolnic ( German Aujest ) is a city in the Czech Republic. Lies 14 kilometers southeast of the city center of Brno and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov. North of the city to the Pracký Kopec ( Pratzeberg ) is the battlefield of the Battle of Austerlitz.
Geography
Újezd is located in the Southern Moravian lowlands on either side of Litava ( Littawa ). To the northeast, the hill rises stará hora (307 m) and north of the Pracký Kopec (324 m).
Neighboring towns are Prace the north, Hostěrádky - Rešov and Šaratice in the northeast, Otnice the southeast, Nesvačilka in the south, Žatčany the southwest, Telnice and Sokol Nice to the west and Kobylnice in the northwest.
History
The first mention of Ugezdec be found in a document of bishop Heinrich Zdik, which was made at the turn of 1141/42 and includes a directory of goods of the diocese of Olomouc. A previously adopted Erstwähnung from the year 1131 was 1978 disproved. As of 1320, the parish church and from 1391 the vineyard can be detected. 1388 pledged Bishop Nicholas of Riesenburg Újezd to Jobst of Moravia, who joined the village to the Kammerhut Spielberg. At this time the wine had such a quality that Nicholas of giant castle made supply this from Újezd and Modřice. In the Hussite Wars Újezd was without form, and was repopulated from the mid-15th century.
Since the beginning of the 17th century consisted of two open courtyards Újezd and Flammener and Pruskauer yard. 1783 Flammener farm was parceled out and created the village Reichmannsdorf. 1786 was erected on the farm Pruskauer the settlement Sternhof. 1834 consisted of 50 houses and Újezd had 272 inhabitants. On September 15, 1909 Újezd was raised by Emperor Franz Joseph I to the market town. In 1950 the merger of Újezd Rychmanov and Šternov. A year later, the name of the place of Újezd Sokolnic in Újezd u Brna has changed. 1953 lived 2887 people in the place. Until 1960 Újezd belonged to Okres Austerlitz and since the Okres Brno- venkov. Since December 14, 2005 Újezd u Brna is a city.
