Ulla Salzgeber

Ulla Salzgeber, born Helbing (* August 5, 1958 in Oberhausen ) is a German dressage rider. In her career she has been submitted twice Olympic gold medalist and twice world champion.

Career

Ulla Salzgeber grew up in an equestrian family enthusiastic. At the age of ten she started vaulting. However, you later coach Fritz Temple man led approach the dressage. After completing her law degree and her marriage to Sebastian Salzgeber she moved to Bad Woerishofen. There they built a training center for dressage riders with her husband.

1997 Salzgeber was nominated for the European Dressage Championships in Verden ( Aller) in the German Equestrian team. Right away she was team European champion and finished with her horse Rusty in the individual ranking 6th place

At the World Equestrian Games in Rome in 1998, she was with the German team dressage world champion. In individual competition, she won behind her teammate Isabell Werth and the Dutch Anky van Grunsven the bronze medal. These rankings she repeated at the 2002 World Equestrian Games in Jerez de la Frontera.

At the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney salt was transmitter with the German dressage team Olympic champion. In individual competition, she was behind van Grunsven and Werth to third parties. Following the resignation of Isabell Werth Gigolo Salzgeber was the strongest German dressage rider. In 2001 and 2002 she won the Dressage World Cup with Rusty.

After her horse Rusty had been tested positive at the World Cup finals in 2003 in Gothenburg on testosterone, she had to leave her title as World Cup winner again and was fined. Thus she did not come for the German team at the World Equestrian Games 2010 in consideration. At the World Cup finals in early 2011 she finished with Herzruf 's heritage in third.

That same year she decided not to participate in the German Championships and thus a possibly possible participation in the Olympic Games of 2012.

Awards

Salzgeber was voted Rider of the Year 2001 and 2002. On 9 July 2009 she was awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit.

In addition to her athletic career Salzgeber built for the benefit of the patient clubs in the Orthopedic University Hospital Frankfurt am Main on the children's charity Ulla Salzgeber Children Charity.
