Vaudémont

Vaudémont is a commune with 78 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. The place is located in Canton Vézelise in the arrondissement of Nancy and belongs to the Association of Municipalities Saintois.

Geography

The place is in the countryside Saintois in the southwestern corner of the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle, about 30 kilometers south of Nancy. Visible from the lying immediately to the east hill of Sion ( Colline de Sion) with the 541 m high signal de Vaudémont.

The Castle of Vaudémont was built in the 11th century for the Earl of Vaudémont. Just a piece of curtain wall and the Donjon are obtained. The Donjon will tour Brune skin, called " tower of Brunechildis ". During the construction of the keep was building materials from a building from the Gallo -Roman period (52 BC to 486 AD) used. In the 15th century repairs were done to the buildings. 1639 was the castle on the orders of Louis XIII. looped. 1840 the ruin was classified as a monument historique (historic monument) and 1930 of the Donjon was restored.
