Voinémont

Voinémont is a commune with 348 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Meurthe -et -Moselle in the Lorraine region. It belongs to the district of the canton of Nancy and Haroué.

Geography

The community Voinémont in Saintois is at the lower Madon, a left tributary of the Moselle River, 17 kilometers south of Nancy.

A wide loop of the river Madon forms the western and southern boundary of 4.11 km ² of the municipal area. The area to the right of Madon increases by about 50 meters altitude gently. In the south the terrace above the river level is more pronounced and wooded. Almost 90 % of the municipal area is used for agriculture.

Neighboring communities of Voinémont are: Ceintrey the west and north, the east, and Benney Lemainville the southeast and south.

History

The chapel in Voinémont was mentioned in a paper of the Abbey Epinal already in 1090 for the first time. They belonged to the parish of the neighboring village Benney. From 1506 until the French Revolution Voinémont was part of the dominions of Salm, and later those of Beauveau.

The Church in Voinémont originated in the 15th century.

A special feature is the agglomeration of communities Voinémont and Ceintrey that are geographically grown together and only separated administratively. The border between the two communities through the heart of built-up area. About Founded in 1998, the Community of Communes Communauté de communes du Saintois who belong to both communities, issues of regional planning, economic development, and not least the maintenance of primary schools are regulated together.

Economy and infrastructure

A portion of the inhabitants of Voinémont is employed in agriculture and in small craft and service companies. In addition Voinémont is place of residence for commuters in the nearby industrial areas in and around Nancy.

Traffic

By directly subsequent neighboring community Ceintrey the Territory road 913 from Metz via Nancy to Mirecourt. From the Department Voinémont road 61 runs over Benney after Crévéchamps on the Moselle River and cross through the motorway-like national road 57 (Metz -Nancy- Epinal ). The train station in neighboring Ceintrey is on the railway line Nancy Dijon, which is operated by TER Lorraine.
