World record progression 800 metres freestyle

The swimming world records in the 800 meters freestyle are the best in the swimming discipline 800 m freestyle swum times. They are recognized by the International Swimming Federation FINA. World records are kept separate for long paths ( 50 m) and short tracks ( 25 m) and separately for men and women.
