Montenero Sabino

Monte Sabino is a municipality with 297 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Rieti in the Italian region of Lazio.

Geography

Monte Sabino is located 67 km northeast of Rome and 22 km south of Rieti. The village lies on a narrow ridge in the Sabine mountains.

The municipality consists of the villages of Leone, San Benedetto and Sant'Andrea.

The municipality covers an altitude difference of 290-892 m asl

Monte Sabino is a member of Mountain Community Monte Piano Reatino.

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).

The neighboring municipalities are Casaprota, Mompeo, Monte San Giovanni in Sabina, Rieti and Torricella in Sabina.

The nearest railway station is on the railway line Contigliano Terni - Sulmona in 21 km distance.
