Salisano

Salisano is a municipality with 557 inhabitants (as at 31 December 2012) in the province of Rieti in the Italian region of Lazio.

Geography

Salisano is located 64 km north of Rome and 36 km west of Rieti. It is located in the Sabine mountains, and is a member of the Comunità Montana Sabina.

The municipality covers an altitude difference of 116-968 meters above sea level. The municipality consists of the villages of Gallo, Monte Falcone, Rocca, Roccabaldesca, Santa Lucia and Vallocchie.

The municipality is located in the seismic zone 2 (medium endangered).

The neighboring municipalities are Castelnuovo di Farfa, Mompeo, Monte San Giovanni in Sabina, Montopoli di Sabina, Poggio Catino, Poggio Mirteto and Roccantica.

Traffic

Salisano located 16 km from the Strada Statale 4 Via Salaria (SS 4), which leads from Rome about Rieti to the Adriatic Coast.

The nearest motorway exit is Ponzano Romano in 30 km distance to the A1 Autostrada del Sole.

The nearest train station is in Poggio Mirteto Scalo at the regional railway line FR1 16 km away.
