Robert Marion

Robert Marion (* 1766 in Berkeley District, South Carolina, † March 22, 1811 in St. Stephen 's Parish, South Carolina ) was an American politician. Between 1805 and 1810, he represented the state of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

The exact date of birth of Robert Marion is unknown. He received a good basic education and then studied until 1784 at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Then he ran a plantation in Belle Isle. He also served as justice of the peace.

Between 1790 and 1796 Marion was a member of the House of Representatives of South Carolina. In the years 1802-1805 he was a member of the State Senate. He was a member of which was founded by President Thomas Jefferson Democratic- Republican Party and in 1804 as its candidate in the first electoral district of South Carolina in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC selected. There he met on March 4, 1805 the successor of Thomas Lowndes. After two re- elections he could remain until his resignation on December 4, 1810 in Congress.

Robert Marion died only a few months after his resignation as congressman on 22 March 1811 in his plantation in St. Stephen 's Parish.
