This year, the French writer Françoise Sagan was Jury President. She stood in front of the following judges: Sergio Amidei, Rodolphe -Maurice Arlaud, Luis García Berlanga, Maurice Bessy, Paul Claudon, Jules Dassin, Zsolt Kézdi - Kovács, Robert Rozhdestvensky and Susannah York.
Award winners
The jury decided on at the time of competition performance yet unfinished film Apocalypse Now won the competition and asked him as equals the Günter Grass film adaptation of The Tin Drum.
