2000 European Men's Handball Championship

The 4th European Handball Championship for men was held in Croatia from 21 to 30 January 2000. The title was able to win with a final victory over Russia the Swedish national handball team. The German selection finished only ninth, Austria and Switzerland did not qualify for the finals.

Preliminary round

In the preliminary round, the twelve qualified teams played in two groups of six teams. Within a group, each team met once against any other team. The top two teams in each group qualified for the semi-finals.
