Arkadiusz Godel

Arkadiusz Godel ( born February 4, 1952 in Lublin ) is a retired Polish fencer. Godel is the only fencer who belonged to the Polish team in both the Olympic gold medal in 1972 as well as the world champion title in 1978.

Arkadiusz Godel belonged in 1972 to the Polish team at the Olympic Games in Munich. Godel was only used in the first round battle against Germany. The Polish team with Marek Dabrowski, Jerzy Kaczmarek, Lech Koziejowski, Witold Woyda and Arkadiusz Godel fought in the sequence to the finals through and won there against the Soviet team gold medal. A year later the Polish team in the cast Marek Dabrowski, Witold Woyda, Leszek Martewicz, Lech Koziejowski and Arkadiusz Godel won the bronze medal at the World Fencing Championship in 1973.

At the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal Godel occupied with the Polish team to fifth place. Two years later at the World Fencing Championship in Hamburg in 1978 the title of the Polish team with Bogusław Zych, Adam Robak, Arkadiusz Godel, Marian Sypniewski and Leszek Martewicz won by a final victory over France.
