Mauro Numa

Mauro Numa ( born November 18, 1961 in Mestre ) was an Italian fencer who has won two Olympic gold medals with the foil.

Already at the World Fencing Championship in 1979 won Numa with the Italian team foil silver, which he succeeded in 1981 again. In the World Fencing Championships 1982 in Rome, he won the team bronze, but could with silver for the first time win an individual medal. In Los Angeles in the 1984 Olympics he defeated in the individual competition in the finals Matthias Behr. Also in the team final, Italian and German were offset by Mauro Numa erfocht his second gold medal.

In the 1985 World Fencing Championships in Barcelona Numa again won in singles and with the team. In individual he defeated in the finals his compatriot Andrea Cipressa, in the team competition were again the German fencer inferior.
