Ascoli Satriano

Ascoli Satriano is a town in Apulia. It belongs to the province of Foggia and has 6254 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012). Ascoli is also known because of a battle in which the Molossian king Pyrrhus has BC won its proverbial Pyrrhic victory in the year 279 ( Battle of Asculum ).

The neighboring municipalities are Candela, Castelluccio dei Sauri, Cerignola, Deliceto, Foggia, Lavello (PZ ) Melfi (PZ ), Ordona, Orta Nova and Stornarella.

In Ascoli Satriano, there is a Daunian Archaeological Park and extensive private collections on the subject Daunian stelae.
