Ordona

Ordona is an Italian municipality ( comune ) with 2706 inhabitants ( 31 December 2012) in the province of Foggia in Apulia. The village is located approximately miles from Foggia.

History

Ordona goes back to the ancient city Herdonia, which was once the bishop's residence is now run as the titular Erdonia the Roman Catholic Church. It was the scene of clashes during the Punic Wars, in particular 212 and 210 BC, when it came to battles between the Romans and the Carthaginians under Hannibal.

Today's village Ordona was only much later. To a proper settlement occurred in 17-18. Century.
