Barmissen

Barmissen is a municipality in the region Barkauer land in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography and transport

Barmissen lies about 10 km south of Kiel and about 8 km west of Preetz on the main road 404 from Kiel to Bad Segeberg.

History

There are few prehistoric finds in the municipality, but some flint artefacts suggest at least a temporary settlement in the Neolithic period.

Barmissen was 1474/75 first mentioned. The place name probably means bald swamp forest.

Policy

The voters Community FWG has for the local elections of 2008, all seven seats in the municipal council.
