Bothkamp

Bothkamp is a municipality in the region Barkauer land in the district of Plön, in Schleswig- Holstein.

Geography and transport

Bothkamp is located on the main road 404 between Kiel and Bad Segeberg approximately at the level of Preetz. To Bothkamp includes the Both Kamper lake from which springs the Eider, and the estate Bothkamp. The highway L 49 runs right through the city, it connects the B 404 in Nettelsee with the A7 near Bordesholm.

History

The story Both Kamps is closely connected with the history of the estate of the same name, which is the largest of Schleswig-Holstein was once 6,000 acres. The community Bothkamp created in 1928 upon dissolution of the estate districts from a part of Gutsbezirks Bothkamp.

The Good Bothkamp arose from the very first time in 1243 mentioned manor Bistekesse. On the estate of Josiah Rantzau (1609-1650) was born, he was commander of the Thirty Years' War.

Middle of the 19th century lived and worked the illustrator and children's book author Fanny von Bernstorff temporarily in Bothkamp. 1870 by the Chamberlain Friedrich Gustav von Bülow on the edge of the estate, a private observatory set up. The community Bothkamp belonged until 1932 to the resolution circle Bordesholm, then to the district of Plön, to finally merging Preetz country in office after the local government reform in 1970 ( Resolution of the Office Kirchbarkau ).

Since the local elections of 2013, the voters Community WGB has all nine seats in the municipal council.
