Borač, Czech Republic

Borač ( German Bora Czech, formerly Boracz ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located eight kilometers north-west of Tišnov and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Borač located in the Bohemian- Moravian Highlands. The village is situated on the right bank of Svratka at the mouth of the creek Boračský creek. To the south of Babylon rises (505 m). On the left side of the railway line runs Svratka Tišnov - Zdar nad Vltavou, there is also the station Podolí.

Neighboring towns are Doubravník and Prudká in the north, Ochoz u Tišnova in the northeast, Podolí in the east, Brusna and Řepka the southeast, vrby, Zahrada and Kaly in the south, Vrbka, Boudy and Husle the southwest, Pernštejnské Jestřabí in the west and MANOVA in the northwest.

History

Borač probably originated in the mid-13th century during the colonization of the area by the monastery Doubravník. The first written mention of the village was in 1368, when Bohunek of Borač on the land board against the registration of the villages Nová Ves and Skryje as property of the Vladiken of Drahany lodged an objection and claimed this as a dowry of his sister. Since 1539 the existence of a mill with a sawmill is detectable. Up for sale at the Porta Coeli monastery in 1593 Borač belonged to the rule Pernsteins. 1782 the monastery was abolished by Emperor Joseph II in the wake of Josephine reforms, then the owner of the village changed frequently. 1793 lived 207 people in Borač. In 1830 the village consisted of 32 houses, which extended along the creek Boračský. 1839 had 271 inhabitants of the village.

After the abolition of patrimonial Borač formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno and judicial district Tischnowitz. By 1860 Podolí was a district of the municipality Borač. 1870 was the district LISCI. 1875 a two-class village school was inaugurated. In 1880 the community had 400 inhabitants reached its highest population. Since 1896, the village belonged to the newly formed district Tischnowitz. In 1900, 311 people lived in Borač. 1933, the settlement Vrbí was created. In 1948 the merger of the municipalities Borač and Podolí to a community Borač Podolí. In 1950 the community had 318 inhabitants. After the dissolution of Okres Tišnov the community came with the beginning of 1961 to Okres Zdar nad Sázavou. At the same time the community was named Borač and the district Prudká the community Ochoz u Tišnova was affiliated. Since the beginning of 2005 Borač belongs to Okres Brno- venkov

The municipality consists of the villages Borač Borač ( Bora sealed ) and Podolí ( Podol ) and the settlements Prudká (Iron Hammer) and vrby.
