Březina (former Tišnov District)

Brezina ( German Bschesina, also Brzezina ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located three kilometers south of Tišnov and belongs to Okres Brno- venkov.

Geography

Brezina is located on the right bank of Svratka above the confluence of the Lubě in the Bosko brázda. To the east rises the Sokolí ( 398 m ), in the southeast of the second peak of Sokolí (419 m ) south of the Horka (333 m), in the southwest of the Strážná ( 393 m) and west of the Bačkovec (419 m).

Neighboring towns are Tišnov in the north, Hradcany in the northeast, Sentice the southeast, Sarka and Heroltice in the south, Pejškov the southwest, Vohančice in the west and Žernůvka, Závist and Předklášteří in the northwest.

History

The first written mention of Brezina was in 1234, when Margrave of Moravia Přemysl the village gave the newly built monastery Porta Coeli. The monastic land register of 1539 has twelve farms and two sojourners for Brezina. Later, especially the number of Kötner grew. Until the secularization of the monastery in 1782 Brezina always remained the Cistercian monastery submissive. After that, the village fell to the religious fund, the 1799 sold the reign Porta Coeli to William Mundy. He was succeeded in 1821 by the Baron Wittinghof.

After the abolition of patrimonial Brezina formed in 1850 a municipality in the district of Brno and judicial district Tischnowitz. Since 1896, the village belonged to the newly formed district Tischnowitz. Until 1922, the historic layout of the village had changed little. At this time, lay around the village square, arranged in two rows, the farms and to the west and southwest, closed the mill and scattered over the years emerged Häusler economies to. During the 20th century Brezina was enlarged to the northeast, however, the historic center has remained largely unchanged. After the dissolution of Okres Tišnov the community came with the beginning of 1961 to Okres Brno- venkov. Between 1986 and 1990, Brezina was incorporated to Tišnov.
