Chris Butler (ice hockey)

Chris Butler ( born October 27, 1986 in St. Louis, Missouri ) is an American professional ice hockey defender, who is since June 2011 with the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League contract.

Career

Chris Butler began his career as a hockey player with the Sioux City Musketeers of the United States Hockey League, for whom he had a total of two years active from 2003 to 2005. During the NHL Entry Draft in 2005 the defender was selected as the 96th overall player in the fourth round by the Buffalo Sabres. However, he played the next three years, initially for the ice hockey team of the University of Denver in the National Collegiate Athletic Association, which in 2008 he left early because he had been taken by the Sabres under contract.

From the 2008/ 09 season was Butler both for the NHL team the Sabres on the ice, as well as for their farm team in the American Hockey League, the Portland Pirates. His debut in the National Hockey League gave the Americans on 19 December 2008 in a game against the Los Angeles Kings.

On 25 June 2011, the Sabres gave him together with Paul Byron in exchange for Robyn Regehr, Ales Kotalík and a second-round vote in the NHL Entry Draft in 2012 to the Calgary Flames from.

Internationally

At the World Championships in 2013 in Stockholm and Helsinki Butler was in the squad of the U.S. national team and won the bronze medal with this.
