David Cicilline

David Cicilline ( born July 15, 1961 in Providence, Rhode Iceland ) is an American politician of the Democratic Party. He represents the state of Rhode Iceland since 3 January 2011 at the U.S. House of Representatives.

Life

After leaving school, Cicilline studied political science at Brown University in Providence and graduated in 1983 with magna cum laude. Then he went to Georgetown University, where he attained a Juris Doctor in Law. Cicilline worked as a lawyer before he was elected in 1995 as Member of Parliament in the House of Representatives of Rhode Iceland. During this time he had his coming-out as a gay politician.

On November 2, 2010 Cicilline succeeded in gaining as a deputy to the House of Representatives of the United States, where he became the successor of Patrick J. Kennedy for the first Congressional District of Rhode Iceland in January 2011. On November 5, 2012 Cicilline succeeded in re-entry as a delegate to the House of Representatives of the United States.
