Eichstätt (district)

The district of Eichstätt is a county in the extreme north of the district of Upper Bavaria. The district is the geographical center of the State of Bavaria.

Geography

The area of the district of Eichstätt Eichstätt mainly comprises the Alb in the southern Franconian Alb with the core area of the Altmühltal. The Altmühltherme achieved in the West at the circle Solnhofen area, then it flows in an easterly, north-easterly direction and leaves it later east of Beilngries again. In the extreme south of the Danube in the northeast of the Main -Danube Canal briefly touches the circle area.

Neighboring districts of the district of Eichstätt in the north are the districts of Roth and Neumarkt in der Oberpfalz, in the eastern district of Kelheim, in the south, the counties Pfaffenhofen and Neuburg -Schrobenhausen and the independent city of Ingolstadt, and in the west the districts of Donau-Ries and White Burg- Gunzenhausen.

History

The area of the district of Eichstätt belonged before 1800 to the Bishopric of Eichstätt, the southern part belonged early to Bavaria. 1803, the District Court of Ingolstadt was built. After the incorporation of the Bishopric of Eichstätt in Bavaria in 1806, here the district courts Eichstätt and Kipfenberg were built. All three county courts were in 1808 to Altmühltherme circle whose capital was Eichstätt. 1809 they were Eichstätt and Ingolstadt immediate circle cities. After dissolution of the circle Altmühltherme 1810, three county courts were part of the Upper Danube circle whose capital Eichstätt, 1817 Augsburg was initially. From 1817 to 1833 the county courts Eichstätt and Kipfenberg included as a rule courts of the duchy of Leuchtenberg within Bavaria. After the reorganization in 1838 included the two District Courts Eichstätt and Kipfenberg to the district of Middle Franconia, the district court Ingolstadt to the district of Upper Bavaria. 1862, the same district were formed from the district courts and Eichstätt Eichstätt Kipfenberg the district and from the district court Ingolstadt. A change of the learned District Ingolstadt 1880, when he had to give ten municipalities in the district of Neuburg adDonau. From 1939, the districts of Eichstätt and Ingolstadt were designated as counties. 1940, the town of Eichstätt was incorporated into the district of Eichstätt, but this was reversed in 1949.

In the 1972 local government reorganization of the independent city of Eichstätt, the northern part of the district of Ingolstadt and parts of the counties Riedenburg, Beilngries and Hilpoltstein was from the district of Eichstätt, the current district of Eichstätt formed. The expiring license plate of the now old district of Eichstätt ( used since 1956 ) was EIH. Some communities of the district of Ingolstadt were incorporated into the district-free city of Ingolstadt. The new district of Eichstätt was the Regierungsbezirk Oberbayern allocated, which included the county-level city of Ingolstadt and the old district of Ingolstadt previously. Eichstätt received the status of a district town for the loss of freedom circle.

The district of Eichstätt won 1988-2008 about 25,500 residents added or increased by approximately 26%.

Economy and infrastructure

Economic structure

In December of 2013, the unemployment rate in the district of Eichstätt in 1.3%. Thus, the county has the lowest unemployment rate in the Federal Republic of Germany. Eichstätt also has the lowest unemployment rate of a local authority in the European Union. There is many years in this district a high density of social insurance contributions, with the result that the region for years has full employment.

The county town of Eichstätt has an unemployment rate since 2008 partly from less than 1 % or slightly above, and thus is considered the " most productive German county seat ". The economic growth of the town of Eichstätt is estimated at about 7.0 %, which is well above the national average.

The economic structure has a majority of the industry ( Eichstätt / Ingolstadt ), but also of service ( in the county town of Eichstätt are large agencies, such as the Catholic University of Eichstätt -Ingolstadt, or the Diocese of Eichstätt ) and of the center of gravity within the five Bavarian major centers (distances in each of Eichstätt ), Munich ( 101 km), Nuremberg, Germany (82 km), Ansbach (78 km), Augsburg (77 km), Regensburg (98 km) and Ingolstadt (25 km), embossed.

The centers of Baden-Württemberg, Ulm (115 km ) and Stuttgart (180 km ) can be reached in 2 to 2 1 /2 hours of Eichstätt.

While the county town of Eichstätt is more the center authorities, municipalities have to Ingolstadt, such as Gaimersheim, a higher industrial share. Infrastructure

The adjoining the county county-level city of Ingolstadt is a major railway junction. Here, opened in 1867 by the Bavarian state railway to Ingolstadt and 1870 completed a north-south line between Nuremberg and Munich Treuchtlingen - crosses with the run since 1874 in the Danube Valley line Regensburg -Ingolstadt- Donauwörth.

The town of Eichstätt is connected to the main railway Treuchtlinger by a narrow gauge branch line to 1934 since 1885 that the Altmühltal further led down from 1898 to Kipfenberg and 1929/30, in Beilngries the connection there in 1888 of Neumarkt ago found next to the railway; this was extended in 1909 until Unterdietfurt.

Towns and villages of the district before the municipal reform 1971/78

In the north, bordering the Central Franconian district of Eichstätt to the county Hilpoltstein, in the northeast of the county Beilngries, on the east by the county Ried castle, on the southeast by the county Ingolstadt, on the south by the district of Neuburg on the Danube, and on the southwest by the county Donauwörth to the northwest by the district of White castle in Bavaria. The town of Eichstätt was acyclic.

Prior to the municipal reform 1971/78 the district of Eichstätt had 77 communities ( see list below). Until 1950 it was a less: The municipality Sornhüll was in 1950 an independent municipality, which was added to the district of Eichstätt. Until then, the village was part of the municipality in the district of Altdorf Hilpoltstein.
