Engelstadt
Angel City is a municipality in the district Mainz -Bingen, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the Association of Gau -Algesheim.

Geography
The wine town is located southwest of Mainz and is a term coined by the Agriculture Location.
History
The town was first mentioned in 941 in a document as Engilestat.
The Bishop of Mainz, Albert Stohr found in Angel City in the spring of 1945, before the Nazis refuge and plunged to the advance of the American army. Three days after the capture of the city of Mainz by the Americans Stohr returned on March 24, 1945 back in his episcopal city and began to rebuild the church and the country.
Parish council
The local council in angel city consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009, by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.
Culture and sights
Structures
The Protestant parish church was first mentioned in 1228 and is dedicated to St. Mauritius. Especially valuable is the Carolingian lintel in the tower. The church houses a built in 1855 by Hermann Dreymann organ.

Regular events
The Engelstädter notch is always held on the second weekend in September and the village festival on the third weekend in June.
In addition, there are angels in the city since 2003, the rock Witches Night. This is a live open-air with rock music, which is organized by the cycling club angel city and the youth club angel city always on April 30.
