Geography

The wine town is located southwest of Mainz on Welzbach and is a term coined by the Agriculture Location.

History

The first recorded mention is returned in a document of the monastery Disibodenberg to the year 1108 Hilbridisheim. By 1200, the location is situated in the possession of the County of Sponheim

In a letter to the top official from February 1, 1731, the court seal of the municipality is called for the first time. It shows a horse's head looking to the right and the name " Upper Hilbersheim S Court ". In the opinion of the Provincial Archives in Speyer this court seal is sufficient, however, back to 1574.
