Geography

The wine town is located southwest of Mainz on Welzbach and is a term coined by the Agriculture Location.

History

The first recorded mention is returned in a document of the monastery Disibodenberg to the year 1108 Hilbridisheim. By 1200, the location is situated in the possession of the County of Sponheim
 
. A mention of Upper Hilbersheim as superior Hilbersheim to distinguish between low - Hilbersheim located in a charter of 1219 the Archbishop of Mainz, Siegfried II of Eppstein. From around 1232 Upper Hilbersheim belongs in the possession of the County of Sponheim

Top Hilbersheim is 1797-1814 French, in the canton Woerrstadt in Département du Mont- Tonnerre. Starting from 1835 it belongs to the district Alzey, 1852, the device switches to the circle Oppenheim. The local village of Upper Hilbersheim been authorized since September 14, 1981 carry a coat of arms. The coat of arms description reads: "In a blue -eyed golden horse's head to the right ."

In a letter to the top official from February 1, 1731, the court seal of the municipality is called for the first time. It shows a horse's head looking to the right and the name " Upper Hilbersheim S Court ". In the opinion of the Provincial Archives in Speyer this court seal is sufficient, however, back to 1574.
