The 6th Euro Vision Song Contest (former title Grand Prix de la Chanson Européenne euro vision ) took place as two years before in Cannes, France on March 18, 1961. The event was hosted again by Jacqueline Joubert.

Special

For the first time took part in Finland, Spain and Yugoslavia. Germany sent by Lale Andersen an already internationally renowned singer whose song Lili Marleen went around the world in World War II. She sang the first multilingual contribution of competition story: One day we 'll meet again in German and French. The winner was the starting for Luxembourg French singer and actor Jean -Claude Pascal Nous les amoureux with the song.

The Swedish Post April, april originally intended to be sung by Siw Malmkvist that the country had also represented in the previous year. However, it was replaced by Lill- Babs.
