Frank Nye

Frank Mellen Nye ( born March 7, 1852 in Shirley, Piscataquis County, Maine, † November 29, 1935 in Minneapolis, Minnesota ) was an American politician. Between 1907 and 1913 he represented the state of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Career

In 1855 Frank Nye moved with his parents to a farm in Pierce County, Wisconsin. He attended the public schools of his new home, including the Academy in River Falls. In the following years, Nye worked as a teacher. After a subsequent study of law and its made ​​in 1878 admitted to the bar, he began practicing in his new profession in Hudson. Between 1879 and 1884 he was district attorney in Polk County.

Politically, Nye member of the Republican Party. In the years 1884 and 1885 he sat as an MP in the Wisconsin State Assembly. In 1886, Nye moved to Minneapolis in Minnesota. There he continued his legal practice. Between 1893 and 1897 he was district attorney in Hennepin County, after he had already worked for several years as a deputy prosecutor in this district. In Minnesota Nye sat also continued his political career.

In the congressional elections of 1906 he was in the fifth electoral district of Minnesota in the U.S. House of Representatives in Washington DC chosen, where he became the successor of Loren Fletcher on March 4, 1907. After two re- election he was able to complete in Congress until March 3, 1913 three legislative periods. In 1912 he abandoned a bid again. After the end of his time in the House of Representatives Nye again worked as a lawyer. In 1920 he became district judge in Hennepin County. This post he held until 1932; then he withdrew into retirement. Frank Nye died on 29 November 1935 in Minneapolis and was buried in River Falls.
